Be Prepared|The Great Day of the Lord

“And he said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand… “But you, go your way till the end; for you shall rest, and will arise to your inheritance at the end of the days.”

Daniel 12:9‭-‬10‭, ‬13 NKJV

Reading from the beginning of the chapter, I see a curious listener, listening with so great attention. But is able to make almost nothing of all that he’s heard.

He could barely raise his hand above his already tucked in head. But then his curiosity seeming great, he quietly asks, “O my Lord, what shall be the outcome of these things?”

The Angel gently rests his hand on Daniel and says, “go your way: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.”

And Daniel sighs softly in disappointment. The Angel not only hears, but also feels the sigh and he decides to tell Daniel little of the signs.

And that’ll be our area of focus.

“Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand.”

What message does this reply convey?

We’ll see possible answers, making reference to other passages in the Bible.

“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. …Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me; listen, that you may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David.
Isaiah 55:1‭-‬3 NIV

The thirsty here is everyone who is not saved.

And the those without money are the gentile nations. Those who were never in the Abrahamic covenant; never qualified by virtue of their nativity.

And the call to eat and drink is the grandest – The Salvation Call.

One more thing. Did you notice the ‘buy’ in the passage. All who are thirsty a called to come and buy, and not take.

For everything we buy, we pay. So what’s the price. Nothing less than our life. Let me explain.

In Daniel chapter 1, the king gave order, that arrangement be made to select those fit to serve in the king’s court (the positions come with profound benefits). And in order to achieve this, the contestants were taught the Palace ethics. Why is this necessary? The king has his standards. Simple. Everyone gets equal opportunity, and what you choose to do with it determines your fate.

Jesus cannot dwell in a heart that is less than whole.

God does not have any problem with His creation, no. The problem is that of sin. He loves the sinner, but hates sin. Thus, the price we pay is giving up the life of sin. That’s not too much to ask of. Worth adding: the devil loves sin, but hates sinners.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
John 3:16‭, ‬18 NIV
In the last days, God will make available Grace to believe in His Son, Jesus Christ. And the Holy Spirit is made available to teach us and keep us in Jesus. This we see in the ministries of the Apostles in the early church.

Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say… “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. Acts 2:14‭, ‬40‭-‬41 NIV.

This was never the case long before that time.

Let’s not forget the second part of the sign. As many are receiving the gift of Salvation and drawing nearer to Christ, many are simultaneously deepening their root in evil.

We no longer see Wisdom in being faith-full, we’ve chosen to be foolishly sin-full.

The once-regarded abominations now have the backings of the government. Completely Legal. The moral standards are fast degrading as the world’s system is encroaching the church. Only few carry the truth, as it is now too heavy to move with. We no longer see Wisdom in being faith-full, we’ve chosen to be foolishly sin-full. Abnormalities are now termed normal. And the world sees nothing wrong with that. How foolish.

The time of The Master’s Return may not be a motivating factor for the world anymore, but the certainty of His Return cannot be over emphasized.

The signs that were revealed to Daniel are unfolding right before our eyes. What effect has this on you? Do you choose to continue in the world’s delusion, or do you choose wake up to the reality of God’s eternal truth?

All that we’ve deliberated on are signs of the time and not the day itself. No one knows it. Thus, the need to remain prepared.

The time of The Master’s Return may not be a motivating factor for the world anymore, but the certainty of His Return cannot be over emphasized.

Be Prepared.
